C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\sound\music\safe\themonsterswithout(_s).wav

that's the culprit, and I agree, it's hideous. it's actually 2 identical wave files, not sure which one is used, so just do them both. open them with an audio editor and reduce their volume to 0%. its better than deleting them, might have unforeseen consequences, files missing etc.

just remember that when you perform a "verify game cache", the original files will be redownloaded and you'll have to do it all over again. unless you backup both sets of files (edited and original), and paste the originals back in when you're about to do a verify game cache (to prevent Steam redownloading them), and then just replace them with the edited ones after you're finished verifying.

that's what I do with the Dark Carnival concert songs (they're hideous)

it's probably a custom campaign causing it, I do recall one having its own custom HIDEOUS saferoom music. what custom campaigns do you currently have in your addons folder? the Omgot pack doesn't have custom saferoom music
